For some years now, the textile industry, like many other areas, has been undergoing a transformation in terms of occupational safety, human rights and sustainability. These are areas that are of primary concern to industry and have led to new legislation and directives. FYNCH-HATTON also takes up this positive change and implements it in the supply chain and on the product.

We are committed to preserving the planet and to a long-term transparent and more sustainable supply chain.

In addition to social and ecological aspects, a long life of the clothing and the production of a high-quality product is very important to us.

Among other things, we promote the use of certified animal material with the help of sustainability standards, as well as the use of recycled fiber to counteract the use of new petroleum-based materials.

The topic of sustainability is constantly changing. This is why we at FYNCH-HATTON are constantly obliged to implement this change in our field. In order to ensure and enable sustainable progress at the product level, as in the selection of our materials, pay attention to sustainable features.

Responsible Wool Standard for Wool (RWS)

The Responsible Wool Standard of Textile Exchange refers to the certification of sustainable wool in the final product. The standard stands for transparency and traceability along the supply chain. Other standards exist for alpaca, merino or cashmere.
Social norms and criteria are covered by the RWS.
In addition to organizational advantages, the standard particularly refers to the topic of animal welfare, mulesing-free shearing of sheep, adequate husbandry and feeding, as well as the use of chemicals in the further processing of the raw material into yarn and fabrics. In order to award a garment with this standard, the item must contain at least 5% shredded wool. We only use RWS certified wool for our products, these products are marked with the standard.

Global Recycled Standard for Recycled Materials (GRS)

Like the Responsible Wool Standard, Textile Exchange’s Global Recycled Standard is applied on a product-related level. The standard also stands for transparency along the value chain with a stronger focus on the use of chemicals during production and in the finished textile.
Social norms and criteria are covered by the GRS.
To award an item with this standard, it must contain at least 20% recycled material. Articles that have a recycled content of more than 50% wear the logo of the standard in the form of a label on the garment.
We use GRS-certified synthetic materials for our outdoor products, which are marked with the standard logo.

The Good Cashmere Standard by AbtF® for Cashmere

As already mentioned for the RWS, we work with certified textile material of animal origin. All products containing cashmere are certified according to the The Good Cashmere Standard by AbTF®. This standard is committed to the well-being of goats and the most extensive consideration is given to animal welfare. The standard follows the so-called five domains developed by Mellor and Reid: nutrition, environment, health, behavior and mental state. The GCS follows the three core principles of promoting animal welfare in cashmere production, supporting cashmere goat farmers* and protecting the environment.
The task of the farmers in this context is to protect the biodiversity and the ground on which the goats are kept. In return, the GCS regulates social aspects such as the prohibition of child labour, correct payment, and occupational safety. This is an important aspect for FYNCH-HATTON.

Cotton made in Africa by AbTF® für Baumwolle

Cotton made in Africa We use cotton for the majority of our products with cotton content.
As an initiative of the Aid by Trade Foundation, Cotton made in Africa is one of the world’s leading standards for sustainable cotton production. Cotton made in Africa is committed to better working and living conditions for small farmers* and for the workers* in the factories. CmiA considers ecological, social and sustainable aspects.

The cotton companies involved in Cotton made in Africa carry out agricultural and business training courses for participating small farmers. The acquired knowledge is intended to support them in growing cotton more efficiently and at the same time more environmentally friendly and to farm their farms for profit.

FYNCH-HATTON buys CmiA cotton according to the mass-balance principle. This means that CmiA cotton cannot be traced back to the garment and does not have to be contained in it. You can find more information about this procedure and the standard here here.

Better Cotton Initiative for Cotton

The Better Cotton Initiative advocated the production of sustainable cotton. The initiative focuses on seven different principles. These are plant protection, water, soil quality, biodiversity, fiber quality, decent working conditions and management systems.
These principles help farmers grow cotton in a way that is better for themselves, the environment and the environment.

FYNCH-HATTON buys Better Cotton according to the mass balance principle. This means that Better Cotton is not traceable to the garment, may be mixed with conventional cotton and does not have to be contained in the garment. PREMIUM COTTON

Our Premium Cottonwhich we use especially for our signature polos is a high-quality cotton with unique properties. The premium cotton is characterized by its extra long fiber length, which gives the final garment a particularly soft feel, strength, and thus longevity, as well as color stability. The long cotton fiber reduces the pilling effect and makes the fabric and garment more resistant to tearing and friction.

How to tell if your garment is certified by a standard.

Our garments, which contain certified material or for which certified material was purchased, are provided with a logo of the standard, as well as additional information.

Social Sustainability

In addition to the use of sustainable materials, the well-being of workers in production countries is particularly important to us at FYNCH-HATTON. FYNCH-HATTON is a amfori BSCI Member and produces exclusively in amfori certified production facilities.
amfori BSCI is a social sustainability standardAmfori does not issue certificates at product level, but for individual testing sites, which are rated A-E. We only accept a rating of A-C.
Amfori provides its members with a range of tools to improve their supply chain. This includes a code of conduct, which plays a role in improving supplier contracts. In regular audits, various areas are illuminated and companies receive a ranking on topics such as fair pay, occupational safety, child labour, protection of workers and working hours.
With these tools, possible weak points can be identified and remedied.
Since amfori BSCI does not apply to individual products, the standard is not recognizable by the garment, but all products are manufactured in certified production facilities.
