What actually happens with the clothing that we as consumers send back as a consumer as part of an online order? In close cooperation with us, this question dealt with nine students of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences of the Textile and clothing technology department of this year's 5th semester projects. The project was made by Prof. Dr. Marina-Elena Wachs looked after. For this purpose, sustainable solutions for a more responsible handling of damaged return goods were developed.
Incorrect articles that can no longer be resold for various reasons should be through the vision "Close the Loop with Zero Waste" of the students will find a new use in the future.
"In some cases, the clothing parts have small holes or cracks, are polluted or were returned by the customer," says Marc Küperkoch, member of the student team. Damaged goods such as polo shirts, shirts, pants, etc. from Fynch-Hatton recycled the students through a special procedure in the form of making a yarn in cooperation with the company Turns to a new textile area.
Afterwards, the students from the recycled textiles in cooperation with the workshop for people with disabilities, Prodia, developed the prototypes of a new backpack "Denys", as well as the dead BAG "Blixen".
With these solutions, the dilemma of return goods can be counteracted in the future. Marco Sänger: “We worked closely with the students and are more than happy about the result. As part of the premium event in Berlin, you were able to present your result at our booth and the visitors interested in sustainability, detailed answers to your specific questions. "
